CAD Technician supporting our Infrastruture Engineering Team

Full time, permanent position for a Civil Engineering CAD Technician at the Derby office – subject to return to safe office working (likely April 2021)

  • Competent in the application of AutoCAD is an essential requirement of this role.
  • Construction industry, particularly infrastructure, experience with AutoCAD is beneficial.


Basic salary will be in the bracket of £20,000 to £25,000, dependent upon experience. Payment of Professional Subscriptions to support future professional development to enhance career aspiration.  20 days holiday plus bank holidays and Christmas closure and Company Pension.

GCA Consulting are a well-established multi-disciplinary firm, with a diverse workload of  £1-15m schemes. We have a vacancy for an experienced CAD Technician to commence employment upon safe return to office-based working.

The successful candidate with have good experience of hands-on experience of AutoCAD.

GCA are seeking an enthusiastic candidate to support a busy team of engineers with all drawing/tracing work.  You will have ability to work on your own initiative within a highly supportive team and company culture. This is a fast-paced environment – and you will often be required to work to tight deadlines.

You will be responsible to the Senior Engineering team with all aspects of drawing/tracing work.

It is essential that you have proven experience to communicate (both written and verbal) with both internal and external stakeholders.

The role is based at our Derby city centre offices and you will benefit from free-of-charge, on-site parking.

Hours of work:  Monday to Friday 9.00 am to 5.30 pm


Candidate requirements

Fully conversant in the use of AutoCAD.

Preferably 2 years hands-on experience in a construction orientated environment.

Qualified to BTEC, HNC or HND desirable but not essential.

Potential to enjoy working on a variety of projects, predominantly within the infrastructure and civil engineering sector.
