Active involvement in events such as the joint ICE/ IStructE Young Members ‘make or break’ evening helps our engineers build upon their networking, teamwork and communication skills, whilst furthering their knowledge of the ever developing construction industry. This particular event focused on the modern method of construction; Prefab/ modular construction.
Each team was presented with the same client brief and provided with materials to build a structure to meet that brief. Marks were awarded for innovation, economy of design and performance.
Fun events such as these bring real life design challenges to life, aiding engineers to develop hands on experience in concept design development and as built sketching whilst also contributing towards gaining Chartership qualifications.
Structural Engineers from GCA participated in this challenging and interactive event earlier this year which turned out to be a very enjoyable evening.
