Masonry Chimneys and Towers

Victoris Baths Chimney
Perrotts Folly

Brick masonry has been used as a building material for hundreds of years, and the industrial revolution saw huge numbers of masonry chimneys and towers erected in cities across the UK.

These ageing structures are often listed, complicating repairs, and requiring specialist management strategies.

GCA are expert in the assessment of these structures, and have developed bespoke analytical methods to determine their capacity.

We have worked on a number of projects next to Network Rail infrastructure, where careful risk assessments are required to ensure that the right balance of retention and risk mitigation is made.

We are comfortable liaising with local planning authorities and key stakeholders to manage challenging risk profiles.
